After pushing back, calling Tesla solar directly, I they refused a second time. They told me that it was a 'company wide' policy to refuse any residential job less than 1/10 pitch.

Nov 3, 2020 · Also, the roof is double covered with a self-adhering metal roofing underlayment, Firestone Clad-Gard SA. In my case the tear-off reseal subcontractor messed up and Tesla had to put a layer of Sharkskin Ultra SA over that. One thing that’s not quiet is when the snow comes barreling off the roof, (my roof is an 8.5 pitch).

Feb 20, 2011 · FWIW a 45" X 14" Tesla Solar Roof tile weighs about 7 pounds ( I weighed the signed one I have). With overlapping that tile will cover 45" X 9" = 2.8 sq feet of exposed roof. 7lbs/2.8 sq. ft. = 2.5 lbs/sq. ft. for the SolarRoof tile. So even with underlayment material and plywood, I think you are safe.

Jan 28, 2018 · Our 44 solar panels were installed on our concrete tile roof last year by a Tesla-approved 3rd party installer, along with 4 PowerWalls. We contacted Tesla first about installing the system, and they indicated the installation would be more expensive because they would likely break many tiles and would need to order a palette of extra roof tiles.
