Jan 14, 2013 · The shuttle trains through the Channel Tunnel from Calais are only for people with vehicles. A very small number of Eurostar trains stop at Calais Frethun station which is quite isolated and I don't know if there are car hire places nearby.

I'm used to the enclosed, lit, airconditioned (sort of) cars of the Eurotunnel and the unlit, open (have a look at the photo on the website) bouncy cars of the BLS were not comfortable. You do stay in your car and the walls are mighty close.

The passenger train from the UK to France and beyond is the Eurostar, and it originates in London at St Pancras International Station.

Dec 2, 2011 · And, as others have said, Channel Tunnel, the bit under the water, has been corrupted by some American to be "chunnel", a term never used in the UK or France. Eurostar, for passenger trains (for a few more months until DB and others also get into the act) and Eurotunnel for car and truck trains, use the Channel Tunnel as only part of their route.
