Officials say heavy rain has pounded Japan’s northcentral region of Noto which triggered landslides and floods and left one person dead and several missing.

Six people have been confirmed dead in the disaster — five in the city of Wajima and one in the city of Suzu — while at least eight remain missing or unaccounted for.
