India has reported its first case of the fast-spreading clade 1b mpox strain in Kerala. The patient, a 38-year-old man who traveled from the UAE, was confirmed as infected by Health Ministry spokesperson Manisha Verma.

The latest and more virulent strain of Mpox, clade 1b, has been detected for the first time in India in a youth undergoing treatment in Malappuram. The 38-year-old man, a native of Edavanna, had recently returned from the United Arab Emirates.
