Superintendent Mark Bedell sent a letter to the district Friday denouncing racist texts received by Anne Arundel students.

Authorities are investigating a series of racist text messages that were sent to Black and Hispanic students in the Los Angeles Unified School District, part of a much larger trend occurring across the country.

Racist text messages invoking slavery raised alarm across the country this week after they were sent to Black men, women and students, including middle schoolers, prompting inquiries by the FBI and other agencies.
