The New York Mets reportedly ended trade negotiations with the San Diego Padres for Dylan Cease. That's due to a high asking price of three of their top prospects.

With pitchers and catchers set to report to spring training on Wednesday, there remains the possibility of the Mets adding one more arm. The pitcher is San Diego Padres right-hander Dylan Cease, who the Mets have been linked to for over a week.

The Toronto Blue Jays reportedly stayed in the mix for Pete Alonso to the end. Now Toronto could pivot to this first baseman with Alonso returning to the Mets.

According to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, Alonso and the Mets agreed on Wednesday to a two-year, $54 million contract. The deal reportedly includes a $10 million signing bonus and an opt-out after the first year,
