Kensington Palace surprised fans of the British royal family today by releasing four striking new portraits. And while followers will note that it isn't rare to see a new royal portrait—for example, this striking one of Prince William standing alone—it is rare to get hand-drawn images.

Princess Kate's visit to the National Portrait Gallery was one of her first outings of the new year after sharing on Jan. 14 that she is in remission from cancer. The royal was outside of the limelight last year after announcing in March 2024, and sharing in September that she completed chemo.

The Princess of Wales revealed the drawings by her, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis as part of her support for early childhood development.
