Shortly after it was reported that Liam Coen would reject an opportunity to become the Jacksonville Jaguars' next head coach to stay with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as their offensive coordinator, some suggested that Buccaneers ownership viewed Coen as an eventual replacement for current Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were dealt a sudden blow last week when Liam Coen went from deciding to sign a contract extension to remain the team's offensive coordinator to accepting the Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching gig. And according to recent reports, Todd Bowles' thoughts on the matter have been revealed.

The Jaguars were worried the Buccaneers would make "promises" to keep their new coach Liam Coen in Tampa Bay next season

In the 24 hours that saw Coen go from highest-paid coordinator to head coach, one team was left in the dark and the other found its match.

The season is not even over but teams that did not make the playoffs are making their moves with Ben Johnson and Liam Coen hired as the head coaches of the Bears and Jaguars, respectively.

And does that excuse the ex-offensive coordinator ghosting his former team for more than 24 hours after saying he’d stay in Tampa Bay?
