WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Peter McKinney, 22, of Wichita, was sentenced to 59 months in prison Thursday for the deadly shooting of his roommate at their North Rock Road apartment earlier this year.

Peter McKinney was sentenced on Thursday by Sedgwick County District Judge Sean Hatfield, who followed attorneys’ recommendations for 59 months in prison on one count of voluntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors say Peter McKinney, 22, was handling a loaded handgun in a bedroom of the apartment he shared with Crawford.
