Russell Findlay has been elected as the new leader of the Scottish Conservative party. The former journalist defeated his Scottish Parliament colleagues Murdo Fraser and Meghan Gallacher. Findlay has been an MSP for the West of Scotland since 2021 and was the party's justice spokesman.

Findlay, who comfortably won the contest to succeed Douglas Ross as the leader of the Scottish Conservatives, appointed MSP Rachael Hamilton to the post. She takes over from Meghan Gallacher, who had stood against Findlay for the party leadership and resigned as deputy partway through the campaign.
