Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has announced a new partnership between the Florida Highway Patrol and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to enhance immigration enforcement within the state.

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is taking a bigger role in immigration enforcement efforts around the state. Over the weekend, troopers helped federal agents in Fort Myers. Last week, Gov. Ron DeSantis said the state signed an agreement with the Department of Homeland Security for troopers to begin enforcing immigration law.

But according to Mahomes, who clarified their relationship this week—the two may no Vice President JD Vance recently cited medieval Catholic theology in justifying the immigration crackdown under President Donald Trump.

State troopers will be deputized and trained to help the Department of Homeland Security round up and detain illegal immigrants under an agreement between Florida and the Trump administration announced by Gov.

Through today’s agreement, ICE will delegate the authority to the Florida Highway Patrol to perform specified immigration officer functions under the agency’s direction and oversight. This includes identifying and removing already incarcerated criminal aliens who are eligible for removal before they are re-released into the community.
