Waymo and Hyundai have reportedly met more than three times to discuss the automaker building autonomous Ioniqs to replace Waymo’s Zeekr fleet

Self-driving tech company Waymo is holding discussions with Hyundai Motor Group about using the Ioniq 5 as a robotaxi platform, according to reports from Reuters and a South Korean newspaper.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 could become Waymo's next self-driving taxi, deploying a new generation of the Google spinoff's Waymo Driver autonomous-driving system, Reuters reports.

Waymo is in talks with Hyundai Motor to outsource manufacturing of its self driving vehicles, Reuters reported South Korean newspaper Electronic Times as saying. According to the report, Waymo and Hyundai Motor officials have met more than three times to discuss a plan to use Hyundai's Ioniq 5 electric vehicles for Waymo's sixth generation self driving technology abd the plan includes replacing offerings from China's Zeekr.
