In the same week that Safeway shuttered its San Francisco Fillmore District store and announced the upcoming departure of its Pinole store, the grocery chain broke the news of yet another Bay Area store closure.

For the second time in recent days, Safeway has announced that one of its grocery stores in the Bay Area will be closing, citing “financial performance and ongoing safety concerns.”

Another Bay Area Safeway is slated to close its doors by the end of the day Friday. The grocery company said it would permanently close its location on Admiral Callaghan Lane in Vallejo, citing ongoing safety issues.

Another Safeway in the Bay Area is preparing for an imminent closure, the grocery chain announced the same week its store in San Francisco’s Fillmore District shuttered for good.

“We do not foresee any layoffs as a result of the closure,” Safeway stated in the filing with the state labor agency. “Associates will continue to work at the store to close operations” over an unspecified period after the April 4 shutdown, Safeway told the EDD.

Despite the outcry of the neighborhood over the past year, the Safeway grocery store on Webster Street in the Fillmore neighborhood is officially closing its doors on Friday.
