Helene has already proven deadly across the South, and Kentucky is getting dangerously close because the severe weather is causing traffic disruptions and wrecks.

The remnants of Hurricane Helene are still affecting the Commonwealth, with significant impacts expected to persist throughout the weekend.

Gov. Andy Beshear says eight counties have declared a state of emergency due to the remnants of Helene hitting Kentucky. Those counties are Boyd, Breathitt, Clark, Clay Lee, Letcher, Magoffin and Wolfe. The cities of Ashland, Catlettsburg, Clay City, and Winchester have also declared a state of emergency.
