A husband shot his wife outside a Kansas elementary school as they dropped off their two children for classes for the day, police said.

A Kansas father shot his wife on Monday morning during a “domestic dispute” at their children’s elementary school drop-off, sending the campus into lockdown. The man reportedly opened fire, striking his wife in the chest shortly after the couple dropped off their children at Cessna Elementary School in Wichita.

(ABC 6 News) — Two people are hurt after a shooting outside an elementary school in Wichita, Kansas. Local officials are reporting at least one is in critical condition with the second victim suffering serious injuries. The school went into lockdown after the shooting. There still are no suspects or arrests made in the shooting.

"A husband and wife were brought here along with their kids by a Lyft driver. The kids went on into school. We have witnesses telling us the male suspect shot the female in the chest."

The shooting happened just outside Cessna Elementary School near 45th Street South and Meridian. A Sedgwick County sheriff's deputy shot and wounded the suspect. No students or school employees were hurt.
