A voter turnout of 59.28 per cent was recorded till 3 PM on Wednesday in 43 assembly constituencies in Jharkhand where voting is underway in the first phase, officials said. Polling began around 7 AM in these constituencies across 15 districts and will continue till 5 PM.

The voter turnout exceeded 2019 levels in most seats in Jharkhand. In Ranchi, voters defied concerns about urban apathy, recording a turnout of 60.49 per cent, up from 49.06 per cent in 2019.
