Two weeks after deadly floods, Spain braces for more heavy rains, with multiple provinces under extreme alert as the risk of flooding rises.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Monday announced 3.76 billion euros ($4.01 billion) in additional measures to reconstruct the Valencia area after the deadliest flash floods in Spain's modern history.

Spain's national weather service issued renewed storm warnings for much of the country for Tuesday to Thursday, two weeks after rains and flash floods claimed more than 220 lives, most of them around the eastern city of Valencia.

The flash floods were caused by heavy rain, which by Wednesday morning had begun "easing off," according to the country's meteorological agency.
